**Walking Tour of "New" Elkins High School (optional event)

​

4:45pm (Meet at the front door of the school - 100 Kennedy Drive)

 

As this is our first time doing an activity at the "new" EHS, many classmates have shown interest in touring the school.  While this school is 32 years old, many of our classmates have never been in this school.  Classmate Jeff Caplinger will lead this 45-minute tour.  Just FYI - our EHS is no longer standing as it was demolished in the Spring of 2010.

Homecoming Tailgating/EHS Football Game vs. Philip Barbour 

 

5:30pm (Tailgating in the front lawn of the school near the field)

 

Our class will be tailgating prior to attending the Homecoming football game.  Light food and drinks will be available during the tailgating event.  No alcoholic beverages will be served or be allowed on school property during the tailgating event or the football game!  For additional food options, everyone is encouraged to visit the concession stand and support EHS Athletics.​

 

6:40pm (We will attend the EHS vs. PB Homecoming football game) 

 

A block in the stands will be reserved for our class.  In addition, there will be a few recognitions of our class on the EHS Jumbotron during the game.  An EHS Class of 1981 sweatshirt is also being sold for this event. (optional purchase).  Sweatshirts are $16 each.  Sweatshirts can be ordered on the registration form.

Get-Together at Jimbo's 304 Room (302 Davis Avenue)

 

10pm-12am (officially, however the traditional get-together usually runs another 1-2 hours)

 

Our 45th reunion officially gets under way with our traditional Friday night get-together.  Our 45th get-together will be at Jimbo's 304 Room (Jimmy Poyner, manager).  The address is 302 Davis Avenue and is adjacent to Beander's.​

**New Tygart Flyer Train Excursion  (optional event)  

$102 per person

 

11am-3pm (Arrive at the train depot by 10:30am - 315 Railroad Avenue)

Those that are interested in getting an early start to the reunion can enjoy a scenic day in the mountains on the New Tygart Flyer passenger train.  This wilderness excursion features mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, a high bridge and miles of unspoiled mountain views. Vintage diesel-powered locomotive climbs along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the High Falls of Cheat. Enjoy the view relaxing aboard our comfortable climate controlled passenger coaches.

This vintage diesel-powered passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most relaxing mountain wilderness excursions in the area. The 4-hour, 46 mile round trip departs at 11 a.m. from the restored Elkins Depot on Railroad Avenue.

​

On the trip to the Falls, enjoy a cold cut lunch, which is included in the ticket price. The trip culminates at the High Falls of Cheat, an 18′ high, 150′ wide waterfall located in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the region. This optional activity is a great way to start our reunion weekend!

Dinner at "The Barn" on Legg Road

 

5pm-?? (BBQ Dinner - Legg Road)

 

Once again, classmate Ryan Legg has gratuitously donated his event space for our reunion picnic.  This space comes complete with a open bar and restrooms.  There will be tables and chairs for eating and socializing.  Plenty of parking as well.  There will also be a live band this year for this event!​

Close out our 45th reunion with breakfast at The Lunch Box Diner.  This will be our last chance to say goodbye to old friends and classmates.
